Enhancing access to flood hazard data for risk-informed investment planning

The announcement was made at the Development Data Partnership Day in New York, where JBA’s Alex Minett and John Bevington met with representatives from IDB Invest to formally mark the beginning of this collaboration.

Through this partnership, IDB Invest – part of the Inter-American Development Bank Group and a key driver of private sector investment for sustainable development in Latin America and the Caribbean – will gain open access to JBA’s Global Flood Maps. These data will support IDB Invest in understanding flood hazard and risk across its portfolio, informing investment planning, infrastructure design, and resilience-building efforts.

This partnership will help strengthen our capacity to evaluate climate-related risks and how they impact the performance of our portfolio and build resilience across the private sector investments we support. Access to robust hazard data such as JBA’s Global Flood Maps is vital to integrating climate risk into strategic investment planning and in impact analyses.

We’re excited to be working with IDB Invest and to continue expanding the impact of our Global Flood Maps through the Development Data Partnership. Supporting flood resilience at scale means putting the right data in the hands of those making investment decisions – and that’s exactly what this collaboration enables.

A growing network of partners advancing Data for Good

The Development Data Partnership is a global initiative that connects international organisations with private sector data providers, enabling better-informed development decisions. JBA is proud to be a partner in the initiative, offering access to its comprehensive flood hazard data to organisations including the World Bank, Asian Development Bank (ADB), European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), European Investment Bank (EIB), and now IDB Invest.

The 2025 DDP Partnership Day in New York brought together partners across the development and data sectors to share progress, discuss challenges, and explore opportunities for collaboration. JBA’s participation in the event highlights our ongoing commitment to data for good, working with others to build a more resilient future for all.
