We’re delighted to announce that JBA Global Resilience (JBA) has become an official partner of the Anticipation Hub, a global platform dedicated to advancing anticipatory action. The announcement was made at the 13th Global Dialogue Platform on Anticipatory Humanitarian Action in Berlin, where JBA Director, Dr John Bevington, met with representatives from the Anticipation Hub to formally mark the commencement of this partnership.
The Anticipation Hub brings together organisations across science, policy and practice to promote anticipatory action – acting before forecastable hazards occur – to reduce their impacts and enable faster recovery. The Hub facilitates knowledge exchange, learning, guidance, and advocacy for anticipatory action through both virtual and in-person collaboration. It is a joint initiative of the German Red Cross, the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) and the Red Cross Red Crescent Climate Centre, with support from Germany’s Federal Foreign Office.
The Hub aims to promote knowledge exchange, learning, guidance, and advocacy, helping to strengthen global capacities in anticipatory action. As a partner, JBA will share its expertise and experience of flood, climate and weather risk modelling, forecasting and early warning, trigger design, and calculation agency.
“Joining the Anticipation Hub reflects our shared commitment to improving humanitarian action through the use of the latest science, data and technologies. Partnering with the Anticipation Hub underlines JBA’s commitment to support humanitarian activities globally. We look forward to furthering our collaboration with the Anticipation Hub and its partners to advance evidence-based, risk-informed action that reduces the humanitarian impacts of weather and climate shocks.”
Dr John Bevington, Director, JBA Global Resilience
“We are pleased to welcome JBA as a partner. Their expertise in risk modelling, forecasting and early warning, and anticipatory action will add value to our growing network of partners, strengthening the collaboration between science, and implementation.”
Alessandra Gilotta, Head of the Anticipation Hub
Together, we are helping to connect science, data and decision making across sectors – supporting timely, risk-informed action that protects lives and livelihoods of people at risk of disasters.
